History of Our School

On July 1st, 1972 Clayton Brown Public School was officially opened. Formerly Hearst Public School, the school was added on to and renamed after former principal of Hearst Public School; Mr. Clayton Brown.

Our school crest depicts three themes: study, sport and the beautiful outdoors. It was designed by a student. Our school mascot is a bear, and our school colours are black and gold.

In September 2013 the Hearst High School family made the trek across the street and moved into the Clayton Brown building, we now share the building with our high school students and staff.

As a result we are a very close knit family at CBPS and HHS. As such our new school logo which was designed in 2017, represents the connection between our two schools. Our new updated logo depicts a black bear for CBPS and a panda bear for our Hearst High School. This depiction represents the close ties that we share at CBPS and HHS.
